This section is for tutors who wish to teach students before the IB Diploma Programme. This generally includes lower secondary and upper secondary students (excluding IB Grade 11–12 students). We do not expect the same level of specialised expertise required for IB subject tutors.

This is your proposed rate, not final. We will confirm your actual price together during your interview, based on your experience, teaching resources, and subjects. You are free to set it above or below the reference; just know the reference reflects current market rates, so pricing above it may mean fewer students book you, and pricing below it may mean more.
Market-rate reference (what families pay)
Reference only; nothing here binds your rate. MichiEdu's current starting commission is 40% of the base lesson rate. Example: on a one-hour ¥3,500 lesson, commission is ¥1,400 and tutor pay is ¥2,100. The active percentage is shown again before you accept paid work and is frozen on each booking.
We ask because tutoring rules differ by country, and because we tell families which countries their data is sent to.
Answer yes if you have a resident record (住民票) in Japan, or if you have lived in Japan for a year or more.
If you live in Japan, we must withhold 10.21% income tax from your fees and pay it to the tax office for you. You claim it back when you file your tax return. If you live outside Japan, we pay you the full amount and you handle your own tax at home.
