How can we help?

Sign up takes two minutes at most: your subjects, SL/HL, year, availability, and preferred language (Japanese, English, or Chinese). You can then browse tutors and book a free Meet & Greet or your first lesson.

Families who sign up and book by October 31, 2026 (Japan time) get their first 60-minute lesson free: the booking must be confirmed by then, and the lesson itself can take place later. Your coupon arrives by email and appears in Settings. Your account needs to be verified first (for a student under 18, a parent or guardian approves it). When you book, choose a tutor and a lesson time, then select the coupon, or type its code in the coupon field and press Apply. The price shows ¥0 before you confirm. Coupons are never applied automatically, and each coupon's deadline is shown in Settings.

Yes. You can book a free 15-minute Meet & Greet once with each tutor. It is not a lesson: the student and tutor talk about what the student needs and decide whether to work together, with no obligation to continue.

Yes. Every lesson is a one-to-one online video lesson, and the link to join appears in your dashboard. We do not offer in-person lessons.

Tutors teach in Japanese, English, or Chinese depending on the tutor. Each tutor profile lists the languages they teach in.

Before a profile is published, the MichiEdu team checks the tutor's identity against an ID document, their academic results and supporting documents, the subjects they teach, and their interview.

You can browse and choose freely, or ask MichiEdu to review your subjects, level, language, goals, availability, and preferred teaching style before suggesting a tutor.

Your tutor writes a session summary covering what was taught, homework, and next steps. It appears in the student dashboard for the family to review.

Times count from the scheduled start. More than 12 hours before, you can reschedule or cancel for free. Between 2 and 12 hours before, cancelling costs 50% of the lesson price; you can ask to reschedule, and if the tutor declines it counts as a cancellation. Less than 2 hours before, or a no-show, costs 100%, and rescheduling is no longer available. If the student joins within 15 minutes of the start, the lesson goes ahead; after 15 minutes the tutor may record it as not attended and the full price is charged. If the tutor cancels or does not attend, you pay nothing and we reschedule at no cost. The full rules are in section 7 of the Terms of Service.

Student and tutor dashboards show times in the time zone chosen for each account. Support hours are always in Japan time.

Each tutor's price for each subject is shown on their profile and again at booking, before you confirm. All prices include Japanese consumption tax. Your first booking with a tutor protects that subject's hourly price for your household: if the tutor's price later rises you keep your protected price, and if it falls you pay the lower price.

Each tutor has an hourly rate agreed with MichiEdu. For IB, the subject's tier and its SL or HL level set the percentage of that rate you pay, and a few subjects have an individually agreed price. Pre-IB and SAT each have one hourly rate per tutor. The Pricing page shows the tiers.

Lessons are billed monthly after they take place, together with any cancellation charges. If you have saved a card, it is charged automatically at month end. If no card is saved, we email you the invoice, payable within 7 days. Issued invoices appear in the Billing section of your dashboard, and we issue a receipt (領収書) on request.

No. The Pricing page shows what families pay. Tutor pay is agreed separately in each tutor's terms with MichiEdu, so published lesson prices do not indicate or guarantee tutor compensation.
